Despite the benefits, there are also very real consequences. A majority of all media is owned by a very small percentage of wealthy corporations. Local media is being swallowed alive by conglomerations. Freedom of speech is threatened by these multinational corporations; they drown out the voice of local media with profit-maximizing formulas. Media moguls have the most to gain from globalization of media.
Thanks for the information Sir.

Democracy has a positive impact in national development. But in my view democracy is best for a country where rule of law works. This where the law will deal with anybody who will go beyond the boundary. Taking Ghana for instance civil servant and politicians steal from the nation's coffex because at the end of the day the case will end up to court and these people have the right to go for a lawyer for defence and we all know the bureaucratic system of our court proceedings. In order to enjoy global politics with democracy there should be a strong constitution to back the system. Thank you.

Globalisation is truely inevitable and inreversible. I believe in order to help save our local content from drowning it is important for the ghanian media media to also push our local content by meeting global standards to satisfy the diverse demands of audiences. Media has a bigger role to play than just profit making and these conglomerates need be cautioned.

Globalization has brought many countries together to champion a common course and help each other. As a result of this, "no country now is an island" and for that matter, whatever that goes wrong in another country, one way or the other affects another.
For this reason, globalization frowns on anything that causes the malfunction of a country's development like terrorism, coup, war among others. This has gone a long way of breaking invisible barriers that hinder economic, political and cultural exchanges. Now, a majority are benefiting from globalization albeit the locals are mostly sidelined.

Globalization is definitely bringing the world together in order to create “one global world” but however one must understand its limitations and make the best use for the betterment of the nation and oneself by adopting the best of every nation’s culture.

With this global politics where democracy is their prime goal and rites of the people, there should be also process to protect state resource so as to reduce corruption. Looking at the countries where they are still not practicing democracy, like Rwanda they are far better the countries practicing democracy. Thank u

Globalization has definitely bring the world together in order to create one globe. This has gone a long way to break barriers that affect or hinder international or national politics and economic growth among countries. The strength of culture lies heavily on local media because the local media would project values that are in line with the society

The strength of culture really lies on globalization but the effect on our society especially Africans is what we must watch so it doesn’t pollute us.

The local media in the modern day is a facilitator to the projection of local happenings to the other parts of the world hence, whatever is being projected by the media culturally should be locally centered so as to encourage other people to buy into our culture and prevent cultural imperialism

The Creative Philosopher said...

The concepts of reflection in the media is the very basis of media objectivity and the very source of its dilemma as well.

Who determines what is objective and what is not. Human judgements are fraught with so many nuances so much that the standards themselves are questionable.

As far as there rem as remains media pluralism and independence, media objectivity globally, will continue to be subjective.

The Creative Philosopher said...

Representation in the media are the vehicles through which the media commits the errors of stereotyping.

The portrayal phenomenon itself, is a framing strategy, purposely done to paint a particular image or ideology.

The media subtly creates images through representation.

Based on globalization, we've seen the decline of major states as bigger states take centre stage, come in the form of trade, good governance, as in democracy, coming to help in the form of giving us aid using the IMF, WHO ect..the merging of the bigger markets with the smaller ones in developing countries, in the for of supporting them, creating boundaries and making it look as if they were organizing us rather creating division between us and subsequent confusion....All this was done because, they never left in the first place, never gave us independent, they actually came with a different face actually to colonize us again and this time economically

Through globalization, foreign movies are aired on local stations depicting various cultures. What can we also do for others to see our beautiful culture?
We are promoting other people's culture at the expense of ours.

MY SUBMISSION:

Globalisation has its pros and cons, that is for sure. I also believe that globalisation is inevitable and irreversible and we have to accept that. Our world is changing, the earlier we embrace it and benefit from it, the better.
Globalisation has made communication easier, access to goods and services faster, aided in the movement of people and the spread of knowledge. All these have accelerated our development as a people, showing that globalisation has become a phenomenon to reckon with and definitely is inevitable.

From the claims of globalization, it could be deduced that it's only benefit the rich. Amongst comity of nations, it is to the advantage of of industrialised western world but to the disadvantage to the raw material producing countries. The liberalization and global integration of markets only benefit the rich. Also it's does not benefits everyone it's rather pulling the poor back to colonization which of course is in game different form.
